MicroSoftがYahoo!に買収を提案
Microsoft said it had offered to buy Yahoo for $31 per share, which it said represented a 62 percent premium above the company's closing stock price on Nasdaq on Thursday.
Yahoo!は業績があまり芳しくなく1,000人カットとか言ってる時期。だけどプレミアムはしっかり載せている印象。マイクロソフトは前々からタイミングを見計らっていたんだろうなぁ。Live SearchとYahoo!がくっついてもそんなに魅力があるとは思えないのだが。規模が大きく一応サーチエンジンのNo.2とNo.3だけに買収が成立するかどうか、株主とYahoo!側の対応が見物。しばらく注目していたい。<追加>
The announcement comes with Microsoft and Yahoo seeking to compete with Google, which has surged ahead of both companies.

"Microsoft's consistent belief has been that the combination of Microsoft and Yahoo! clearly represents the best way to deliver maximum value to our respective shareholders, as well as create a more efficient and competitive company that would provide greater value and service to our customers," Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer said in a letter to Yahoo's board of directors.
一緒にGoogle倒しましょうよ。株主にとっても得だし消費者も喜ばせますよって、まぁ普通のコメント。最近は違うかもしれないけど"shareholders"が必ず入っているのは会社の持ち主がshareholdersでしっかり確定しているからか。どちらかというと従業員、経営者指向の日本企業とは違うかも。
しかしサービスでもハードウェアでもITに関連している企業はマイクロソフト打倒を考えているかと思うので、経営陣、創業者的にはその憎きマイクロソフトに買収なんてとんでもない！とはこないものか。
